Dale S. Peterson was born in Los Angeles, California in 1955 and was destined to be a "road dog". His father James "Harry" Peterson was a working musician who lived in Texas before Dale was born. He felt that it would benefit the family to move back to Texas, because of the work opportunities. So they packed their bags and got on the Greyhound headed for San Antonio.
Dale recalls his dad practicing the steel guitar for hours on end, but only heard him play at home at a low volume. One day Harry played a gig in Bandera, it was a family style bar-be-cue. Kids were running, playing and hootin' it up, while a five-year old Dale sat on the edge of the stage watching as his dad set up his rig! Not knowing what he was about to experience, amps buzzing and microphones feeding back, Harry's band belted out tune after tune.

A few years passed before Dale told his father that he wanted to be a musician. Harry taught him some chords and the basic fundamentals on guitar, but Dale wanted to play drums and so he did! That didn't go over very well with the elder Peterson's practice time, so Harry bought his son a harmonica and tried to influence him to play a melodic instrument. Eventually Dale got his hands back on a guitar and started to play in bands, which were all acoustic.
By the early 1970's he started playing electric guitar in country, blues and rock & roll bands. He played in many of the honky-tonks and bars in Downey, Huntington Park, Bell and Maywood. During the late 70's, Dale backed artists like singer/songwriter Don Harrison (Atlantic Records/Mercury) as well as R.B. Greaves ("Take A Letter Maria"). Dale really got into songwriting during the mid 1980's. Tired of backing up lead singers & songwriters, he felt that it was time to form and front his own band.
It all started in 1988 at Al's Bar in Downtown L.A.. Dale Peterson & The Lords of Rhythm mixed blues, rockabilly and country with the East L.A. sounds Dale grew up with. The Rhythm Lords went on to record several releases on the Rebecca Records label: a three-song demo in 1990, a six-song EP, "Evil" in 1992, "Happy Hour" in 1994 and "Lone Wolf" in 1996. Dale's solo debut "Full Circle" was released in 1999 and consisted of eleven roots rock originals.
Twenty-five years ago, Dale told his father that one day he was going to record a honky-tonk record. Harry has since passed on, but Dale never forgot that promise and has worked on this project for over a year. He's put together a classic honky-tonk recording that Harry would be proud of.
"Bandera" was the first of two planned releases dedicated to the life and music of Harry Peterson. The second, "Son Of Harry" is a mix of Rock'n'Roll, Blues and some good ole' Honky Tonk. An all blues CD as well as another CD of all original songs are in the planning stages. Dale and the band are primed and set to book shows across the U.S. and Canada through 2008.
